One of Benjamin Franklin’s brothers once had a kidney stone. Bound to happen when you’ve got nine of them (brothers, not kidney stones). At the time catheters were rigid metal tubes (yikes). Franklin improved the catheter for his brother by making one out of a series of segmented rigid metal tubes. Still not ideal, but you’ve got to appreciate the thought.
